Check out the photos from Miu Miu’s Fall 2011 campaign starring 14-year-old True Grit actress Hailee Steinfeld. The actress lends a soft innocence to the beautiful and fun ads. We love seeing the next fashion stars grow up and blossom before our eyes, and we know we can look forward to the super-talented Hailee’s red-carpet choices for a while to come!
Check out the new pictures of super-hot young designer Jason Wu's collaboration with MELISSA shoes. We would love just about anything the talented designer puts out, but we especially adore these! The collection is slated for release in Spring 2012 and features two styles, the Lady Dragon heel and our favorite, the ULTRA flat.
The classic MELISSA ULTRA flat shoe was inspired by Wu’s whimsical icon in the form of a tiny, wide-eye owl named Miss Wu. One of Jason’s favorite animals, the owl provides a playful accent. The Ultra will be available in a variety of color ways. The second style is the Lady Dragon featuring an opulent gold sunburst inspired by Jason’s Fall 2011 collection, referencing the opulence of Versailles. The collection comes with a specially designed sockline that features a printed lace motif that make the shoes as beautifully made inside and out.
MELISSA has been getting some really great collaborations lately, having previously paired with legends Vivienne Westwood and Jean Paul Gaultier. We can’t wait to get our hands on them!
We here at Fashion Viking have been obsessing the past few years over Jeffrey Campbell shoes, and for good reason! The edgy hipster shoe brand has only been getting cooler and crazier every year. Their shoes’ scream attitude, and just try to walk down the street in 5 inch leopard Lita’s and not get attention! And best of all, you won’t break the bank. If you are looking for a statement shoe with some rock n roll flavour, the search ends here bitches. Check out some of our favorites below:
Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty - The Metropolitan Museum of Art
For those of you lucky enough to live or be in the area of the Metropolitan Museum of Art take note, their Alexander McQueen exhibit ‘Savage Beauty' is on display until August 7th. Been browsing pictures of the exhibit, looks incredible of course! Alexander McQueen was truly a visionary genius, his stunning dresses always stand out from the pack. They are like some beautiful dark fantasy.
About the exhibit:
"The exhibition, organized by The Costume Institute, celebrates the late Alexander McQueen’s extraordinary contributions to fashion. From his Central Saint Martins postgraduate collection of 1992 to his final runway presentation, which took place after his death in February 2010, Mr. McQueen challenged and expanded the understanding of fashion beyond utility to a conceptual expression of culture, politics, and identity. His iconic designs constitute the work of an artist whose medium of expression was fashion. The exhibition features approximately one hundred ensembles and seventy accessories from Mr. McQueen’s prolific nineteen-year career. Drawn primarily from the Alexander McQueen Archive in London, with some pieces from the Givenchy Archive in Paris as well as private collections, signature designs including the “bumster” trouser, the kimono jacket, and the three-point “origami” frock coat are on view. McQueen’s fashions often referenced the exaggerated silhouettes of the 1860s, 1880s, 1890s, and 1950s, but his technical ingenuity always imbued his designs with an innovative sensibility that kept him at the vanguard.
The exhibition is organized by Andrew Bolton, curator, with the support of Harold Koda, curator in charge, both of The Costume Institute. Sam Gainsbury and Joseph Bennett, the production designers for Alexander McQueen’s fashion shows, served as the exhibition’s creative director and production designer, respectively. All head treatments and masks are designed by Guido.” source
